The gold star award is chosen by myself at the beginning of every month, for the previous month. This very prestigious award (well I think so anyway!), will be presented (reality wise anyway) to the author/book that I found outstanding for that month, and would possibly have given a higher rating than a 5 star review, if I could. I have read some truly amazing books in May and I found it really difficult to choose the one book that stood out. So I’m going to give my award to two books this month, These books stood our for me because I still thought about them long after I finished them, and when I was reading them I was so engrossed in their story’s, time just flew by so without further ado the two books I have given the gold coffee cup award are as follows……….
Play Dead by Angela Marsons
This series featuring Kim Stone just keep getting better, I read this book in one sitting it was that gripping. You can read my review here
See How They Run by Tom Bale

I love this book gripping and it certainly kept me on the edge of my seat. You can read my review here
You may have noticed both of these books are published by one of my favourite publishers Bookouture, they have certainly published some fantastic books this year already, and have some of the most talented authors I have had the pleasure to read.
As from next month I will be dropping the gold coffee cup award, I will still be featuring my book of the month but after much deliberation I’ve decided to re-name it The Gold Star Awards, as I realised some of the books I read deserve a higher star rating than five stars (well in my case five coffee cups) in my opinion, so I will also be using this rating for any out standing books I have read. If you follow my blog you may just spot my very first gold star award on Thursday the 2nd of June……my lips are sealed to then 🤐🤐🤐🤐
what books would you give the book of the month award to? I would love to read your comments
I really liked See How They Run too! The other one is on my read list. Perfect choice I’d say!

Is play dead a book you Will have to have read in an order like the Kerry Wilkinson ones ? And I’m looking forward to reading these

Hi Sandra I would highly recommend you read the books in order, although at a push you could read it as a standalone, but the characters progress throughout the books so you will get a better feel for them if you read them in order, also this is a fantastic series and if you enjoy a great gritty crime series like me, then you will want to read them all X

Great choice in Play Dead – my favourite read of May was Daisy in Chains by Sharon Bolton
